A man faces charges of stunting and fleeing from police after an incident in Oxford Junction. On December 3, 2023, around 2:40 p.m., Nova Scotia RCMP Northwest Traffic Services were engaged in traffic enforcement on Hwy. 104 when they detected a Dodge Charger traveling at 186 km/h in a 110 km/h zone on radar. Following a traffic stop, the lone occupant was identified, but during the stop, the driver evaded the officer. For public safety reasons, a pursuit was not initiated.

RCMP officers swiftly informed their counterparts in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island about the vehicle heading their way.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., New Brunswick RCMP received a complaint about a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed, which turned out to be the same white Dodge Charger previously stopped in Nova Scotia. The New Brunswick RCMP made efforts to locate the vehicle.

Around 4:00 p.m., Prince Edward Island RCMP officers spotted the vehicle and conducted a high-risk traffic stop on Capital Dr. in Charlottetown, leading to the safe arrest of the suspect.

The 25-year-old driver from Charlottetown, PEI, now faces charges of stunting and fleeing from police. His vehicle was towed, and his license was suspended. He was subsequently released and is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on February 12, 2024.

Stunting offenses in Nova Scotia come with a fine of $2,422.50 for first-time offenders and an immediate 7-day driver’s license suspension.
