Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

Location: most of southern and eastern Nova Scotia.

Total snowfall: 15 to 25 cm with the highest amounts closest to the Atlantic coast.

Maximum wind gusts: 60 to 80 km/h from the northeast this evening becoming northwesterlies overnight. 

Time frame: Tonight for southwestern Nova Scotia. This evening through Wednesday morning for eastern Nova Scotia including Cape Breton.

Remarks: A nor’easter passing south of the province will bring hazardous winter weather to parts of southern and eastern Nova Scotia this evening through Wednesday morning. Strong winds and fresh snow will likely give whiteout conditions to some areas.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
