Five people injured after gunfire at downtown event

HRP release:

Halifax Regional Police are on scene of a shooting in Halifax that occurred earlier tonight.

At approximately 10 p.m. police responded to reports of multiple shots fired at an event in Africville Park in Halifax.  Two men exchanged gun fire and shots went into the surrounding crowd striking five people. The victims have been taken to hospital one of which is believed to have potentially life-threatening injuries.

Police are asking the public to remain out of the area to allow officers to conduct the investigation.

The investigation is in the early stages and additional information will be provided when it becomes available.
