Significant lane drop on Upper Water Street for four weeks

Via HRM release:

Starting Tuesday, August 6, 2024, an evening lane drop will take place on Upper Water Street, between Casino Nova Scotia and the Halifax Marriott Hotel. This traffic adjustment is part of the ongoing Cogswell District project and is set to last for four weeks.

The lane drop will occur nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday evening through Friday morning. The purpose of this lane drop is to facilitate the safe demolition of the final overpass retaining wall in the Cogswell District project area.

During these hours, traffic on Upper Water Street will be managed using stop control measures. Motorists can expect delays as traffic is directed through the area. Despite these changes, the multi-use path along Upper Water Street will remain open for pedestrians and cyclists, ensuring continued accessibility for non-motorized traffic.

Residents and commuters are advised to plan for potential delays and consider alternative routes where possible. For the latest updates on the Cogswell District project and traffic impacts, visit halifax.ca/cogswell.
