Release:

Halifax Water is advising customers of a possible presence of unchlorinated drinking water in the area(s) described in this notice. To determine if your property is affected, please use the following link to access an interactive map: Where Does My Water Come From?.

Impacted customers are advised that the water can still be used; however, it should be boiled for at least 1 minute before using it for:

  • Drinking
  • Preparing infant formula
  • Making ice cubes or juices
  • Washing fruits or vegetables
  • Cooking
  • Brushing teeth
  • Any other activity requiring human consumption

This boil water notice will remain in effect until further notice. A fact sheet on domestic water usage during a boil advisory can be found here: Boil Water Advisory Fact Sheet 2025.pdf.

This advisory has been issued due to a power interruption at the JD Kline (Pockwock) Lake Water Treatment Facility. While water treatment continued, chlorine disinfection was interrupted for approximately 30 minutes, allowing a limited amount of unchlorinated water to enter the system. The advisory is being issued in accordance with permit requirements from Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change (NSECC).

Halifax Water is actively monitoring water quality and is working closely with NSECC and the Medical Officer of Health.
