Five charged in downtown assault on two women last June

Two adults and three youths have been charged for an assault that occurred in downtown Halifax last year.

On June 23, 2024, at approximately 1:50 a.m., officers responded to a report of two women, age 21 and 23, who had been assaulted by a group of people not known to them. The investigation has been complex, involving a number of witnesses and evidence.

Hussein Mashhour, 19, was charged with assault causing bodily harm and appeared in Halifax provincial court in January 2025.

A second man, 18, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and will appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date. As his charge has not yet been sworn, he cannot yet be named.

Two 18-year-olds who were youths at the time of the assault have been charged with assault causing bodily harm. They are scheduled to appear at Halifax provincial youth court at a later date to face charges.

A 17-year-old youth has been charged with two counts of assault and is scheduled to appear at Halifax provincial youth court at a later date to face charges.
