Crash takes life of man, critically injures Ontario woman

RCMP release:

Lunenburg District RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Petite Riviere.

On July 17, at approximately 11:40 a.m., Lunenburg District RCMP, fire services and EHS responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Italy Cross Rd.

Upon arrival, RCMP officers learned that an Infiniti Q50 had been travelling south when it left the road, went down an embankment and came to rest in the ditch.

The driver of the car, a 34-year-old man from Middle Sackville, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger, a 32-year-old woman from Burlington, Ontario, suffered life-threating injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS LifeFlight. A dog who was riding inside the car was also found deceased.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the location of the crash; the investigation is ongoing.

The southern section of Italy Cross Rd. near Petite Rivière was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
