Heads up, folks. Starting Tuesday, September 30, several new traffic projects will slow things down around HRM. Here’s what you need to know before hitting the road.

HRM roadwork
Bedford Highway – curb and bus pad repairs
- When: Tuesday, Sept. 30 to Friday, Oct. 3 • Sept. 30: 9 a.m.–7 p.m. • Oct. 1–3: 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
- Where: Between Hammonds Plains Road and Valley Road
- Impact: Centerline shifted, expect delays. Use alternate routes when possible.
- Context: Work supports HRM’s Strategic Priorities Plan to improve mobility.
Downtown Halifax – overnight paving
- When: Tuesday, Sept. 30, 7 p.m.–4 a.m. (overnight)
- Where: • George Street, between Bedford Row and Lower Water Street • Queen Street, between Clyde Street and Spring Garden Road • Summer Street, between Veterans Memorial Lane and Bell Road
- Impact: Lane drops and stop-and-go traffic. Expect overnight slowdowns.
- Context: Pavement maintenance for safer travel downtown.
Clovis Avenue – full daytime closure
- When: Tuesday, Sept. 30 to Saturday, Oct. 4, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. daily
- Where: 6A Clovis Avenue
- Impact: Street closed during work hours with a marked detour in place. Road reopens evenings. Expect delays.
- Context: Closure allows safe movement of equipment for a new multi-family development.
Provincial / Halifax Water projects
Pockwock Road – hydrant installation
- When: Wednesday, Oct. 1, 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m.
- Where: Near 547–579 Pockwock Road, Upper Hammonds Plains
- Impact: Stop-and-go traffic. Expect localized delays.
- Notes: Some residents may see discoloured water during or after the work—run cold water until clear.
