Charges after road rage incident sends man to hospital

HRP release:

On December 6 at approximately 12:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault that occurred in the area of Lacewood Drive and Regency Park Road in Halifax. It was reported that a senior was assaulted by a man, not known to him. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Officers searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate him at that time. The victim was transported to hospital by EHS with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 12:50 p.m., officers received a report from a man who stated he was stopped at a red light on Lacewood Drive when a man, not known to him,  approached the driver’s side of his vehicle and began to smash the mirror. When the driver confronted the man, the man punched him. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

At approximately 1 p.m., officers located and arrested the suspect on Thomas Raddall Drive without incident. The suspect was also determined to be same individual involved in the first assault on Lacewood Drive.

A 19-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face one count of assault and one count of assault causing bodily harm.
