Police charge 65 year old man after weapons and drugs found in home

RCMP release:

Meteghan RCMP Detachment has charged a man with several offences after executing a search warrant in Bangor.

On January 15, Meteghan RCMP, assisted by Digby RCMP, the Yarmouth Town RCMP General Investigative Section, and RCMP Police Dog Services, executed a search warrant at a home on Maza Rd. At the residence, officers safely arrested a man and a woman and seized a loaded semi-automatic handgun, a balisong, methamphetamine, hashish, and illicit cannabis.

Donald William Maillet, 65, of Bangor, has been charged with:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Possession of Prohibited Weapon with Ammunition without Licence
  • Possession of a Firearm when Knowing Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of Firearm with Tampered Serial Number
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Illicit Cannabis

Maillet was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Digby Provincial Court on April 13.

The woman was released without charge.
