Charges after pedestrian hit-and-run Downtown

HRP release:

On March 21 at approximately 1:45 a.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision that occurred at the intersection of Brunswick Street and Spring Garden Road in Halifax. It was further reported the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and fled the scene. Upon arrival, officers learned two pedestrians had been struck while both were crossing in a marked crosswalk. Both pedestrians were transported to the hospital by EHS with non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 3:40 a.m., officers located and arrested the driver without incident and seized the vehicle.

A 31-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Operation of a conveyance while impaired causing bodily harm (x2)
  • Operation of a conveyance while impaired by alcohol over 80mg
  • Failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm
