Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a rainfall warning covering Halifax Metro and Halifax County West, Hants County, Colchester County – Cobequid Bay, and Cumberland County – Minas Shore.
Total rainfall of 50 to 80 mm is expected from now until Saturday.
A developing and slow-moving weather system is bringing periods of heavy rainfall. Rainfall rates of 10 to 20 mm per hour may occur over some locations. Thunderstorms may develop, producing locally heavier rainfall.
Some travel delays are possible. Environment Canada advises drivers not to drive through flooded roadways.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant impacts are expected due to rainfall amounts.

Halifax Water is advising residents that the prolonged heavy rainfall that is expected this evening to Sunday could create surface-level run-off. This increases the risk of localized flooding, especially if storm drains and catch basins are blocked with debris, such as fallen leaves.
To help avoid this, Halifax Water is encouraging residents to check their storm drains/catch basins to ensure they are clear. If you see they are blocked, we ask that customers clear them if they are able, and it is safe to do so.
Customers with driveway culverts should ensure that nothing is blocking the flow of water.
