On October 14, at approximately 9:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in a Kia Soul in the area of Westwood Blvd.

Officers located the vehicle on Westwood Blvd. and conducted a traffic stop.  The driver was showing signs of impairment and provided a sample into an approved screening device, which resulted in a fail.

The driver, a 33-year-old Halifax woman, was arrested for impaired driving. She was transported to the Tantallon RCMP Detachment, where she provided breath samples of 220 mg% and 200 mg%.

The woman was released and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face impaired driving charges.

Impaired driving continues to be a leading cause of serious injury and death on Nova Scotia roads. Motorists are reminded to make safe transportation arrangements before consuming alcohol or drugs by choosing a designated driver, taking a taxi, or using a rideshare service. Anyone who suspects a driver is impaired should call 911.
