July 7, 2011, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) . . . Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have charged three men after attempting to avoid a police checkpoint in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia.
On July 6, 2011, 11:00 PM, member of the Halifax District Metro Traffic Services and Tantallon Detachment were conducting a checkpoint on Hammonds Plains Road when a vehicle attempted to avoid the checkpoint. The vehicle was stopped a short distance from the check point without incident. As a result of the investigation, police seized several break and enter tools, a mask, and stolen property. One man was in possession of a prohibited knife.
The three men will be appearing in Halifax Provincial Court on September 29, 2011. A 51-year-old man from Lower Sackville, 30 year-old man from Dartmouth, and a 24-year-old man from Gaetz Brook will face charges under the Criminal Code. The 30-year-old is also charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
The RCMP would like to remind the public to be pro-active in reporting suspicious vehicles and persons in your neighborhood in an attempt to prevent break and enters.
