Streatch Beats Cancer, Prepares to run in Municipal Election

Release:
HRM Councillor Steve Streatch announced today that he has won his battle
with head and neck cancer.
Streatch underwent aggressive chemotherapy
and radiation treatments this past winter.  After consultation with his
specialists on Tuesday he said, “The doctors have given me a clean bill of
health and told me there are no further signs of the disease and that the
treatments were very successful”.  Streatch also said, “I want to thank my
wife, Marilyn, family and friends, as well as the many well wishers
throughout the community who offered encouragement and support during
that very difficult period”.  Streatch also acknowledged his doctors and
medical team, “We are very fortunate to have the calibre of Doctors,
Nurses and Specialists here in our region and I personally want to thank
them for their knowledge and expertise in helping me win this battle”.
With renewed energy and a new perspective, Streatch also announced that
he will be seeking re-election as Councillor in the newly created district of
Waverley-Fall River – Musquodoboit Valley in the upcoming municipal
election.  “I have learned many important lessons over the last year and
have gained a new appreciation for the personal challenges that we may
face throughout our daily lives.  I look forward to the opportunity to once
again serve my district and the residents of HRM as part of the new

Council.
