The Halifax Regional Police are currently at the scene of a weapons related incident that occurred in the area of Barrington and Duffus St. in Halifax. 

At approx. 1:15 PM police received a call of multiple gunshots having been fired in that area, HRP officers responded to the scene and now have it cordoned off for investigative purposes. As part of the investigation the local hospitals were contacted in the event a victim with gunshot wounds had been brought in. It was determined that a shooting victim had in fact transported himself to the QE II hospital for medical treatment. The victim is male and 28 years of age, he is currently being treated for a gunshot wound that is not considered life threatening. It is anticipated that he will not be admitted to hospital for this injury. There have been no arrests in relation to this incident.
 
Members of the HRP / RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section have assumed responsibility for this investigation and it is in its early stages. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
