As week one of the Canada Games concludes, Team Nova Scotia’s athletes are preparing to leave for a well-deserved rest, or arrive for week two the final week of competition.
Week one was a success for Team Nova Scotia, which earned 13 medals in swimming, cycling and sailing.
“Team Nova Scotia did the province proud this first week, ensuring all their hard work paid off. I want to offer my heartfelt congratulations,” said Premier Darrell Dexter. “I’m sure the athletes, coaches, coaches and mission staff will be equally successful in the second week. I’m know people across the province will join me in cheering their successes.”

“I am extremely pleased and proud of how all of our athletes performed this week,” said Team Nova Scotia Chef de Mission Lynda Shoveller. “Our athletes earned the privilege to compete and they are taking that seriously, working hard and making the most of their experience here. The 2013 Canada Summer Games are taking place in Sherbrooke, Que., Aug. 2-17, and feature more than 4,000 athletes competing in 20 sports in 20 venues. Team Nova Scotia has more than 400 athletes, coaches, managers and mission staff.
The Canada Games are held every two years, alternating between summer and winter. They are key in developing Canada’s young athletes producing the next generation of national, international and Olympic champions.
