Structure Fire under investigation, Arichat, N.S.

Richmond County District RCMP are investigating a structure fire that destroyed the main Processing Plant of Premium Seafood's Group. At approximately 1:04 a.m., Richmond County District RCMP, assisted by Isle Madame, St-Peter's, Louisdale and Port Hawkesbury Fire Services, responded to a structure fire at the main Processing Plant in Arichat.

Richmond County District RCMP are investigating a structure fire that destroyed the main Processing Plant of Premium Seafood’s Group.

At approximately 1:04 a.m., Richmond County District RCMP, assisted by Isle Madame, St-Peter’s, Louisdale and Port Hawkesbury Fire Services, responded to a structure fire at the main Processing Plant in Arichat.

Upon arrival, emergency responders noted the main building was filled with smoke. A short time later the building was completely engulfed in flames. The Isle Madame and Louisdale Fire Services remain on site. There are no reported injuries at this time and RCMP have no reason to believe anyone was inside the building at the time of the fire. The building was totally destroyed.

The Provincial Fire Marshall’s Office has been called in. The investigation to determine the cause of the fire is continuing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Arichat Detachment of the RCMP at (902) 226-2533.
