RCMP charge male after fleeing from police in Cole Harbour.
Yesterday, 6:10 p.m., Cole Harbour RCMP and Halifax RCMP Street Crime Unit responded to weapon’s call at Silistria Drive and Beaufort Drive.
Witnesses reported that several males were carrying baseball bats and sticks. One male wearing a face covering, exited the car and entered a path from Silistria Drive. When police arrived, they located two of the males. No other suspects were found. One suspect then fled into the woods and police followed on foot. The suspect was arrested by police behind a business on Cole Harbour Road as he tried to climb a wall. A police service dog conducted a search of the area and located a loaded firearm discarded by the suspect.
A 19-year-old male from Westphal is facing numerous charges under the Criminal Code including Careless Use of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and several other weapons’ offences. He isl also charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest and Breaches of Court Orders. The male will be appearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.
