HRP Release:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a member of our Halifax Regional Police family.

Honorary Inspector Father Lloyd O’Neill served as a police chaplain for approximately 47 years and recently retired from active duty. ‘Father O’ was always there for us and our community, whether in good times or bad. He officiated many of our employees’ marriages, baptized our children, helped as we grieved the loss of our loved ones and accompanied officers as they delivered bad news. He was beside us through it all, regardless of our religious beliefs. He will be truly missed.

In honour of Father O, flags at Halifax Regional Police Headquarters have been placed at half-mast.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be determined. We extend our condolences to his family and others whose lives he touched.
