Two men and a youth are facing charges after an incident earlier today in Bedford.

At 1:50 a.m., officers responded to Shaffleburg Run after a witness observed three suspects breaking in cars in the area. Officers arrived on scene quickly and after a track involving a K-9 unit, they arrested a man on Nottingham Street and another on Rocky Lake Drive. A male youth was later arrested at his North Street residence in Bedford. A total of four vehicles were found broken into and some of the stolen property was recovered.

Two 18-year-old men and a 16-year-old male youth, all from Bedford, were released from custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date. They are facing charges of theft, possession of stolen property and trespass by night.

Police would like to remind citizens that thefts from vehicles are generally crimes of opportunity, with the sight of items being a temptation for would-be thieves. Citizens should remove all items from their vehicles, lock the doors and close the windows upon exiting. If it is absolutely necessary to leave items in your vehicle, locked them in the trunk out of plain view before arriving at your destination. Anyone observing suspicious activity in or around parked vehicles should report it to police immediately at 490-5020.
