Since it’s not likely you’re going to get a siesta since you’re a busy mom, so why not streamline your life so you have some much deserved down time in your day? You have those never-ending chores you have to battle through everyday and you should do what you can to cut a few corners without sacrificing efficiency.

Reap the benefits of a few extra minutes every day with these simple tips:

Save Time on Cooking

The last thing you want to do some evenings is cook a big meal after soccer practice or swim lessons. Once a month, spend a Sunday cooking up recipes that you can easily double or triple. Store them in your freezer in family-size containers or as individual meals for easy lunches. If you don’t have time for that, double a batch of soup or a casserole as you’re cooking on a regular night and you’ll kill two birds with one stone. You can also let a meal cook in a slow cooker all day so all you have do is come and set the table.

Organize Your Dishwasher

Unloading your dishwasher when you have silverware and dishes scattered throughout the whole thing means you’re spending a lot of time pulling out all the plates, then the bowls, then rooting through the silverware basket to put the utensils away. Designate a slot in the utensils basket for forks, knives, and spoons and try to keep all the plates and bowls in the same area so you can unload in organized sections.

Never Match a Pair of Socks Again

We’ve all got those lone socks whose mate seems to have disappeared into the unknown. Consider throwing all of your socks away and starting from scratch. Buy socks in just a few colors, or just one color if you can, and of the same brand so you don’t have to pair socks. Everything will have its mate because they’re all the same sock.

Schedule Bathroom Time

Put up a chart of bathroom times for each of your kids to save the hassle of fighting over whose turn it is. Put the time chart in the bathroom style their hair and put on makeup so all they’re doing in the bathroom is showering and using the sink. This will cut our the time you spend refereeing among packing lunches and getting kids on to the bus.Give Your Kids a Vanity in Their Room

When you have multiple people needing to use one bathroom, it doesn’t make sense to do much more than shower and brush your teeth in there. Give your kids a vanity in their room where they can dry and style their hair and put on makeup so all they’re doing in the bathroom is showering and using the sink. This will cut our the time you spend refereeing among packing lunches and getting kids on to the bus.

Learn A Few Hairstyles

Six thirty in the morning is probably your least creative hour. If you have a little girl who loves to have her hair done in cute and unique styles, consider keeping a binder in the bathroom of cute hairstyle tutorials so all you have to do is flip a few pages to find the perfect inspiration. Find cute girls hairstyles online and learn a few simple favorites to use when you are in a hurry.

Don’t let yourself be a victim of wasted time. Pick a few of your more time consuming tasks and let yourself enjoy the free time to go to yoga class, read a book or even take a short nap.
