Friday, June 27, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that work will begin this evening to extend water and sewer mains up Rainnie Drive from Brunswick Street.

To accommodate the construction, Brunswick Street will be closed between Cogswell Street and Duke Street from 8 a.m. Saturday, June 28, until 7 p.m. Sunday, June 29. The street will not re-open overnight.

Detours will be in place during the closure. Motorists travelling east on Rainnie Drive (down the hill) will not be able to continue straight through the intersection onto Duke Street and will be detoured. Motorists travelling west on Duke Street (up the hill) will still be able to continue through the intersection onto Rainnie Drive.

Any work continuing into Monday, June 30, on Brunswick Street will be restricted to off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Updates on traffic conditions and hours of work will be provided as the project progresses. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, whenever possible.

The municipality apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this work may cause.
