(Halifax, N.S) – On February 10th, 11th and 12th, 2011, at 8 p.m., V-Day Saint Mary’s University (SMU)
Women’s Centre 2011 will present a benefit reading of Eve Ensler’s award winning play The Vagina
Monologues.
Last year, over 5,400 V-Day benefits were held around the world, raising awareness towards ending
violence against women, and over $4 million. In twelve years, the V-Day movement has raised over
$75 million and reached over 300 million people. This year, our local beneficiary is the Avalon Sexual
Assault Centre (http://www.avaloncentre.ca/), with 10% going to the V-Day 2011 Spotlight Campaign:
Women in Haiti (www.vday.org)
The Vagina Monologues will be performed at the McNally Auditorium, SMU campus, at 8 p.m. February
10th and 11th; doors open at 7:30 p.m. and at The Company House at 8 p.m. February 12th, doors also
open at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Pay-what-you-can options are available for under-waged
