A Canadian Thrill Ride – Still Missing by Chevy Stevens

My oldest daughter will be visiting Florida for the first time in a few weeks and one of her biggest joys will no doubt be riding the thrill rides at the amusement parks. You see, I live with several thrill seekers. And for my husband and several of our girls there’s nothing better than hanging upside down, sideways and backwards at high speed on an amusement park ride. Like any good mother I join them at the park and make sure they’re all safely buckled in and then retreat behind the chain link fence to safety. From there I can see them and wave without any fears!

While I don’t join them on the actual rides I too love the thrills but I find mine between the pages of a good thriller. I love the anticipation, not knowing what’s around the next corner, and the feeling that comes with genuine fear at what’s at the bottom of that next page. A new thriller recently came into my hands and left me feeling like I’d plummeted down a roller coaster. Still Missing: a novel by Chevy Stevens left me frightened and shocked and eager for more. Here’s a brief summary of the ride Stevens took me on:

On the day she was abducted, Annie O’Sullivan, a thirty-two year old realtor, had three goals—sell a house, forget about a recent argument with her mother, and be on time for dinner with her ever- patient boyfriend. The open house is slow, but when her last visitor pulls up in a van as she’s about to leave, Annie thinks it just might be her lucky day after all. Interwoven with the story of the year Annie spent as the captive of psychopath in a remote mountain cabin, which unfolds through sessions with her psychiatrist, is a second narrative recounting events following her escape—her struggle to piece her shattered life back together and the ongoing police investigation into the identity of her captor. ~ publisher

And like any good thrill ride, it was over way too soon and I just wanted to jump on again. Fortunately, Never Knowing (Stevens’ next book) is due out in early July.

Just in time for thrill seekers everywhere.
