A Newfoundland Store and A Ping Pong Bar

Nu Cafe on Sackville Dr has closed.
In its place A Taste Of Home is opening a shop, specializing in Newfoundland items. Perfect pairing with Mary Brown’s at the other end of the plaza.

Cortado Tasting Room is opening soon in the new Sante Centre on Hammond Plains Rd. The new coffee house will offer your coffee the way you like, siphoned, pour-over pressed they will be using coffee from Java Blend and teas from Sawdee Teahouse.

No more details yet, but the former Saege Bistro space Spring Garden @ Summer will be coming back to life as an Italian Restaurant.

Advantage Wireless (Telus) moving from Park Lane to where Starbucks was on Queen at Spring Garden. The  Starbucks moved a few blocks west to Spring Garden Place.

Goldwater Lobster Shack in the Seaport is moving to a permanent 7 day home on the corner closest to downtown and will start selling fresh and steamed lobsters.

Pong Social Club, yes it’s a ping pong bar, is opening in the back of the Dome complex on Grafton.

A few NSLC notes:
A new NSLC Express store is going to open in ParkLane with a Spring Garden street front, this in complement to The Port and Clyde St just blocks away.

The First Lake Express store in Sackville should be open early fall.

And Unfiltered Brewing has filed a lawsuit against the NSLC over fees they have to pay the NSLC per litre of beer.

Well it seems that Wizard Optical has cast a disappearing spell, quite a few weeks ago a sign went up saying a long vacation, but now POOF just like that the store is emptied out and website is gone

The Tim Hortons in Bras d’Or where Jesus appeared in the brick work a few years ago has been knocked down, to make way for a new Tims building.
I heard a woman on CBC wondering where the Jesus bricks are?

Every so often I do tastings with Eat This Town, a couple of Sundays ago we hit up all the Nachos on the Halifax Waterfront, here are the results http://www.eatthistown.ca/halifax-nacho-quest-waterfront/
Pssst I was a fan of Stayner’s.
