Accessories Monday: Shine, baby, Shine

Ally: For those of you residing in the HFX, hella weekend, non? So glad I haven’t made a move to pack away my summer duds yet. Mostly due to laziness, but I like to think it’s in part due to my foresight.

One thing I’ll be bringing into fall is my adoration for all things silver. I’ve never been a gold girl. Not sure why. I have very few gold pieces, most of them from my late grandmothers who both had exquisite taste in jewellery. Over the next couple of weeks, in addition to booties, I’ll be on the hunt for silver bracelets. Bangles and cuffs. I’m turning to L-A for advice on where to shop locally since she is ridiculously in-the-know of where to buy what in this city. Here’s what I’m after:

If you think I write these posts by hitting up google and inserting “Sienna Miller” plus whatever topic I am focusing on, you would be correct. I’d like to say you have won something for your sleuthing, but I’m saving the prezzies for myself. This silver cuff, my friends, is exactly what I have in mind. I knew googling Sienna would find the key to my future happiness.

Perhaps I should get off the computer and head straight to a mirror and take a good look at myself to understand why I share the same style love as a starlet from High School Musical. But, there you have it, I do. I’m all about wearing far too many chains, and can only dream about having Zac Efron on my arm (ok, kidding about the last part. I’m only a cougar in training. Roar). Digging the bangles on ‘Nessa’s arm. I’m sure I could pop into any Claire’s outlet and snag a few cheapies, but the risk of turning my arm green is fairly high in that regard.

In other non-silver related news. I’m contemplating going red this fall. I’ve been blond all summer, and keeping one colour for over two months is an all-time record for me (except when I was pregnant and just totally gave up on everything style related…mad props to Jo for keeping the dream alive these past eight months). I’m thinking this type of red:

It just occured to me that I may have finally pushed L-A over the top. I have just placed photos of Sienna, Vanessa and now Ashlee Simpson on our blog, all in one post. Anyway, back to me. It’s a good red, non? Thoughts? Is it too high maintenance?  I have an appointment on Tuesday, so need your thoughts before then.

Also, tonight is Emmy night. I’d like to say that I will be watching, but I’ll likely only tune into the red carpet. Then, it will be all Big Brother all the time. Don’t Cry for me Argentina.

L-A: I’m not much of a gold girl either. I’m not much of a fan of Ally’s style heros either, but I’m going to let that one slide today. Ally did some pre-emptive judging of her own choices. I’m not sure where you’d get a silver cuff. I’m going to leave that one up to the readers. I haven’t been in a jewellery store lately, so I’m not super in the know on that one. But for multiple bangles, I’m going to suggest The Black Market. It might not be silver, but you could totally get a stack of bangles on the cheap.

And not silver, but still good for Ally’s Mr.T-esque love of chains is Overman jewellery from PEI:

It’s a mix of vintage findings (probably some new ones as well), chains, and old watch parts. Some of his stuff could be described as a bit on the “steampunk” side, but I think that’s just the cogs and wheels talking. It’s much more than that. And I think it would fit Ally’s style nicely. You can buy his jewellery online or from stores in Halifax (Love, Me), Moncton, Fredericton, and Charlottetown.

And Ally did bail on the Emmys to watch Big Brother. I weep. I do.  No pictures right now (oh if only we had that kind of budget! or any kind of budget!), but off the top of my head, my favourites were: Claire Danes, Maura Tierney, and Kyra Sedgwick (although, it was a head tilt at first…I didn’t immediately love it). I might need to sleep on it.
