Head On Collision On Highway 111

  A 77-year-old woman was taken to hospital after a serious accident last night in Dartmouth.

 

A 77-year-old woman was taken to hospital after a serious accident last night in Dartmouth.
At approximately 6:15 PM the Halifax Regional Police responded to an injury motor vehicle accident that occurred on the 111 hwy between Mount Hope and Portland St. Witnesses to the accident stated that a vehicle was travelling in the wrong direction on the 111 hwy into on-coming traffic (travelling north in the south bound lane). The vehicle collided with two other cars. The driver of the vehicle in the wrong lane, a 77 year old female was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains there at this time. There were 3 occupants in the other two cars involved in the collision that were treated by EHS at the scene and released. The highway was shut down from 6:15 pm to 9:30 pm while the HRP Accident Investigation Team conducted their investigation. No charges have been laid at this time – the  matter remains under investigation.
