Accident Near Mic Mac Under Investigation

 

A Halifax Police vehicle was involved in an accident yesterday that sent three to hospital, including a 1-year-old child.
 
On December 11th at 2:05 PM two members of the Halifax Regional Police were operating a marked police van and were responding to a crime in progress in the area of the MIC MAC Mall in Dartmouth. The police vehicle was on Mic Mac Blvd and was traveling north into the intersection with Woodland Ave, the police vehicle had its emergency equipment in operation (lights & siren) when it was struck by a westbound vehicle on Woodland Ave. The police vehicle was driven across traffic where it struck a second vehicle that was stopped at the intersection on Lancaster Dr. The single occupant of the vehicle that struck the police car did not require medical assistance. The driver and passengers in the second civilian vehicle – an adult male , female and 1 yr old child were taken to hospital for a medical assessment. The male was suffering from a potential neck injury, the female and child as a precautionary measure. The two officers involved in the collision were not injured. A level two accident investigator and an identification member were called in to process the scene. This matter remains under investigation.
