Additional Cannabis Retail Locations Announced

Three additional Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) stores will sell cannabis.

The three stores are:
— Bridgewater – 274 Dufferin St.
— New Minas – 9256 Commercial St.
— Antigonish – 151 Church St.

These stores will open in the fall as renovations are completed at each.

“Since we announced the first nine stores that would sell cannabis, NSLC has been working to identify additional locations that could be renovated for cannabis sales,” said Finance and Treasury Board Minister Karen Casey. “The addition of these three stores will provide greater access to the legal market for Nova Scotians.”

In January, the province announced that nine NSLC stores in Amherst, Dartmouth, Halifax (2), Lower Sackville, New Glasgow, Sydney River, Truro and Yarmouth will sell cannabis when legalization comes into effect.

Corporate social responsibility will be a core value that guides how the NSLC sells cannabis. The NSLC will comply with all federal requirements with regards to how cannabis is sold and advertised. Staff will be trained to help customers make informed, responsible choices, signs will educate customers about the dangers of using cannabis and alcohol together and there will be no cross-promotion of alcohol and cannabis. Cannabis products will be sold in a separate area and will not be visible from the rest of the store. Youth under 19 will not be allowed in this section.

Until federal cannabis legislation is proclaimed, it is still against the law to possess, use, cultivate or sell recreational cannabis in Nova Scotia.
