Additional charges against adult, youth after disturbance at Junior High

Halifax Regional Police have laid additional charges in relation to a disturbance that occurred at a school in Bedford last year.

On January 5, officers arrested three 14-year-old youths in relation to their involvement in the incident. They are scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face one count each of assault.

On October 19, at approximately 12:50 p.m., police we were called to a disturbance at Rocky Lake Jr. High located at 670 Rocky Lake Road. A physical altercation occurred between two groups of youths. During the incident one of the youths was assaulted by another, who was known to them. A secondary altercation took place between the youths, and one was hit with a rock. The youths fled to the front lobby of the nearby school. A vehicle with four adults, known to the suspect, pulled into the school parking lot at a high rate of speed. The adults from the vehicle, along with suspect youths entered the school where another altercation and assault took place. One of the adults threatened school staff who were attempting to intervene. Police removed the adults from the school and commenced an investigation.

On January 4, officers charged one of the youths and three adults involved in the incident.

A 14-year-old youth has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and assault.

A 38-year-old man has been charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Assault
  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death
  • Causing a Disturbance
  • Mischief

An 18-year-old man has been charged with assault, causing a disturbance, and mischief. A 36-year-old woman has been charged with mischief and causing a disturbance.
