Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Agricola Street in Halifax will be switching it up this weekend by closing to vehicle traffic and welcoming pedestrians and other users to enjoy the street in new ways.
Switch: Open Streets is a movement to do just what it says — open streets to a greater variety of transportation modes. The event is meant to encourage people to enjoy the Halifax region in a new way by walking, biking and moving around safely and comfortably on a two-kilometre route.
Starting at noon on Sunday, Sept. 20, Agricola will be closed to vehicles from Cunard Street to Young Street. The street will reopen at about 4 p.m.
People travelling through the area by car should use alternative routes, or better yet, park, get out and enjoy the celebration! For more information on Switch: Open Streets please visit http://switchhfx.ca/.
