The Department of Environment issued an amended industrial approval to Northern Pulp, today, March 9. The amended approval or operating licence replaces the one issued to the company on Jan. 30 and corrects the typographical error found last month.
The correction relates to the site location of a required 2019 study to identify future options for improving the quality of effluent going into Boat Harbour.
The amendment involved changing an “A” to a “C”. No other changes were made to the mill’s industrial approval.
Under the Environment Act, the mill and any member of the public will now have 30 days from today’s date to appeal the approval. The deadline for submissions is April 9.
