America’s Got Talent: Coming back for Seconds

America’s Got Talent’s Tuesday night episode was the second of two semi-finals episodes, and it was a decent one. I’ve been growing tired of this show, but with the finals in sight I’m willing to stick it out a bit longer. It’s been renewed for 2011 though, and I don’t know if I’ll watch again. Will you? Let’s look at this week’s performances:

Alice Tan Ridley
Wow, were all those diamonds real? Alice (who happens to be Gabourey Sidibe’s mother) was very good. I’m not sure I see her as a winner – there are some more interesting acts – but it was a great performance.
Haspop
Haspop is one of the more memorable acts from this season. That said, I thought his performance was just OK. I got bored very quickly, and I don’t think I could sit through a whole show of his.
Maestro Alexander Bui
Piers told Alexander to choose a song everyone knows, did he not? I did not know that song. Alexander is very good, I just don’t find him interesting to watch. There’s a reason live shows of piano recitals don’t get aired on primetime TV.
Michael & Ashleigh
Michael and Ashleigh had high expectations after their most recent performance. I’m not sure they topped their previous performance, but I still loved it. I think they’ve shown a lot of range and could have a successful show. Or work as back-up dancers for Pink.
Michael Grasso
So not my thing. That’s all I can say about it.
Debra Romer
Debra Romer reminds me of a character from Big Love. She does. Just sayin’. I think that Debra could actually have a recording career, but I don’t think her voice is polished enough for a show based on live performances.
Studio One Young Beast Society
I like this group, but I hate their name. It’s too long and not clever. I think I would have enjoyed their performance more had I recognized the song they danced to. I wanted to like it, but I found it kind of dull.
Jeremy VanSchoovhoven
Well that was a handful. (Get it? Because if I weren’t typing I’d say it was a mouthful? I don’t know why people don’t think I’m funny…) Am I the only one who thought this act wasn’t even worthy of the semi-finals, let alone the finals? I didn’t get what the big deal was. So he hopped around on a bike a bit? So what? I felt bad that the kid was injured, but I’m not a fan of his act.
Nathaniel Kenyon
I’ve always thought this kid has ridden more on his looks than his talent, and his performance on Tuesday night did nothing to change that. It was weak and dull, and struck me as a cute gesture from someone’s boyfriend at karaoke rather than a TV performance.
Murray
Is “Murray” a recognizable enough name to go solo? Does Murray not have a surname? This annoys me, and I’m not sure why. I’m not into magicians, and I really had no preference between the two that performed.
Jackie Evancho
Yeah, the kid is amazing. I still find it slightly creepy to hear that strong, mature voice come out of a little kid, but you can’t deny that the girl’s got talent.
Fighting Gravity
This act has been a front-runner from the moment they debuted. After seeing them perform several times, I still find their act captivating. With another fantastic performance they move a step closer to the win.

So five acts will move forward to the finals. I’m definitely liking Alice Tan Ridley, Michael & Ashleigh, Jackie Evancho and Fighting Gravity. For a fifth, I’m not sure. Haspop? Debra Romer? I’m not sure. Who do you think will make it through? Who were your favorites?
