Hit and Run 16-179281
Shortly after 11pm East Division officers responded to a call of a motor vehicle collision in the 200 Block of Windmill Road. Witnesses reported a vehicle driven by an unknown party struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle and left the scene. The suspect vehicle and the parked vehicle sustained serious damage, but no injuries were reported.
The investigation is currently continuing and witnesses are being interviewed. The run vehicle is described as being a Honda or Hyundai sedan, blue in colour with extensive front end damage.
Suspicious Fire 16-179314
At approximately 1230am this morning Halifax Regional Police responded to a call that a vehicle was fully engulfed in flames on Fernhill Road near Windmill Road. Halifax Regional Police arrived and assisted with traffic duties until Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Services arrived and extinguished the fire. Once the vehicle was safe to approach officers could notice it appeared the vehicle may have been in an accident due to the apparent front end damage on the vehicle. The vehicle has been seized for further examination.
There is no information at this point to link the two incidents in these matters, however police will be exploring all possibilities as the investigation progresses.
