Annapolis County RCMP close highway due to serious collision, Wilmot, N.S.

Annapolis County RCMP are at the scene of a serious collision involving a small car and a horse-drawn sleigh. At approximately 6:50 p.m., Annapolis County RCMP with the assistance of RCMP officers from Kingston along with the Kingston and Middleton Fire Departments, Department of Transportation and EHS responded to a serious collision involving a small car and a horse-drawn sleigh with approximately twenty people on board.

At approximately 6:50 p.m., Annapolis County RCMP with the assistance of RCMP officers from Kingston along with the Kingston and Middleton Fire Departments, Department of Transportation and EHS responded to a serious collision involving a small car and a horse-drawn sleigh with approximately twenty people on board.

Preliminary investigation determined the vehicle and sleigh collided in the vicinity of the intersection of Bayard Road and Highway #1. Four adults from the sleigh are being transported to hospital by ground ambulance with serious non-life threatening injuries. One adult from the sleigh is being transported to hospital via air ambulance with undetermined injuries.

RCMP expect the road to be closed for several hours, a traffic analyst has been called to assist with the investigation. RCMP are asking motorists to avoid the area. Traffic is being re-routed onto highway #201.
