I had the pleasure of talking to Marjorie Willison this week. Although she recently retired from Chebucto Connections, Marjorie is busy as ever. She's spent some of her time writing a book called "Come Grow With Us: A Family Guide to Growing Vegetables.

I had the pleasure of talking to Marjorie Willison this week. Although she recently retired from Chebucto Connections, Marjorie is busy as ever. She’s spent some of her time writing a book called “Come Grow With Us: A Family Guide to Growing Vegetables.

” The book will be launched Thursday, August 12 at 7pm during a celebration at the Urban Farm on Rockingstone Road and Ardwell Ave. You can purchase a signed copy at the event and also tour the garden. There may be garden produce for sale too.

The Spryfield and District Business Commission is holding a fundraiser golf tournament for the Spryfield Boys and Girls Club. It will take place at Indian Lake Golf Club on Thursday, August 21 at 2pm. Call Eric at 477-6621 to reserve a spot.

The Rotary Club of Halifax Presents – “Toonies for Change” – 50/50 Fundraiser

Family SOS Drop in Support Groups for Parents

Where – Family SOS – 2006 Gottingen St, Halifax

Family SOS will be having drop in groups for Mother and Fathers. The group for mothers will be happening on the 2nd Tuesdays of the month and the drop in groups for fathers will be happening every 2nd Wednesday of the month. They will take place from 6 to 7pm in the evenings.

Nova Scotia Legal Aid will offer legal aid services in Spryfield at the Chebucto Connections Office located at 531 Herring Cove Road every Second & Forth Tuesdays of the month. Upcoming dates are Aug 12th & 26th and so on.

To set up an appointment please call 420-3450 and ask for an appointment at the Spryfield Office. Nova Scotia Legal Aid will also accept walk-in clients. You can also check out their site for more information at www.nslegalaid.ca.

Spryfield Village 2nd Annual Harvest Festival

When – September 18th to 22nd, 2014

Please join in for a weekend of fantastic fall fun at the second Spryfield Village Harvest Festival. The SDBC has committed financial Resources to produce the festival, however they are still in need of additional sponsors and partners. Sponsors will be recognized on all advertising material including radio, posters and media releases.

3 Levels of Sponsorship include:

Gold – $500 (Gold Sponsors will also be given the opportunity to sponsor individual events)

Silver – $250

Bronze – $100
