Antigonish County RCMP have arrested five men for alcohol related driving offences over the weekend.
On Friday night a 46-year-old Antigonish County man was arrested after he entered a police checkpoint in Addington Forks, Antigonish County.
He was held in custody overnight and released on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle while Impaired and Operating a Motor vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Concentration Exceeding 80mg%. He will appear in Provincial Court in Antigonish on December 17th, 2014.
Early Saturday morning, RCMP arrested a 19-year-old Guysborough County man on Post Road, Antigonish after receiving a call from the public. The man was held in custody overnight and released on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle while Impaired and Operating a Motor vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Concentration Exceeding 80mg%. He will appear in Provincial Court in Antigonish on December 3rd, 2014.
Early Saturday morning, police received a call of a motor vehicle collision on Greening Drive, Antigonish. Preliminary investigation revealed a pick-up truck drove into a car which caused a chain reaction involving four vehicles in total. As a result police arrested a 26-year-old Antigonish County man. The man was held in custody overnight and released on charges of Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired. The man will appear in Provincial Court in Antigonish on December 17th, 2014.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday, a male on an ATV drove through a police checkpoint in Afton, Antigonish County. The 46-year-old man from Afton fled from the area and was later located at his residence where he was arrested. He has been charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle while Impaired, Operating a Motor vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Concentration Exceeding 80mg%, Flight from Police, Operating a Motor Vehicle while Disqualified and Breach of Probation. The man, who has eight previous alcohol related driving offences, was remanded into custody and will appear in Provincial Court in Antigonish on Monday, September 15th, 2014.
Early Sunday morning a vehicle was stopped on Highway 4 in Monastery, Antigonish County for driving without headlights. Subsequent to investigation, the male driver was arrested for Impaired Driving. The 30-year-old man from Dartmouth has been charged with Refusing to Provide Breath Samples and Breach of Probation. He has been remanded into custody and will appear in Provincial Court in Antigonish on Monday, September 15th, 2014.
