Antigonish RCMP charge taxi driver with sexual assault, Antigonish, N.S.

Antigonish RCMP has charged a taxi driver following two alleged sexual assault incidents involving two women.

On February 15th, 2014, an 18-year-old woman reported being touched inappropriately for a sexual purpose while being driven home alone in a taxi earlier that morning.

Antigonish RCMP began to investigate and the investigation was ongoing.

On October 19th, 2014, a second 19-year-old woman reported a strikingly similar occurrence that occurred earlier that morning involving a taxi driver and inappropriate touching for sexual purpose.

As a result of the investigation, on November 12th, 2014, 48-year-old William Roger MacLellan of Antigonish was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault.

Antigonish RCMP believe there could be other possible victims and would to speak with anyone who feels they may have experienced a similar circumstance or believes they may be a victim of a sexual assault. Individuals are asked to call (902) 863-6500.

MacLellan was released on conditions including not to be employed in the capacity of a driver of a taxi cab, shuttle service or any similar driving for hire position/occupation. He will appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on November 26th, 2014.
