Arbitration Decision, Statement from Minister

The following is a statement from Mark Furey, Minister of Labour Relations, following today’s arbitration decision regarding the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU). The decision can be found here: https://novascotia.ca/psc/public-service-sustainability-mandate/.

The decision of the arbitrator came as the conclusion to a process that was fair for all involved. I thank the parties involved in the process for their efforts. The decision is fair and affordable. It can be managed within the province’s fiscal plan.

We accept the arbitrator’s decision and welcome the opportunity to move forward.

We want to take this opportunity to thank the hard-working employees within the civil service for their daily effort to provide expert service and make lives better for Nova Scotians.
