Attempted Armed Robbery At Scotia Square

Police are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred earlier today at Scotia Square in Halifax.

At 10:42 a.m., a man entered Carlton Cards and approached a female clerk working behind the counter. He was armed with a knife and demanded money. The woman refused to give anything to the suspect and ran from the store to get help. The suspect then fled the store on foot toward Duke Street. No one was injured and the suspect did not get anything.

The suspect is described as a white man in his fifties, 5’6”, with a thin build and a scruffy moustache. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark blue jacket, light blue jeans and a red bucket-style hat.

The investigation by officers with the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section is in its early stages.
