Arrest made after man stabbed multiple times

Incident happened on Commercial St in New Minas.

Kings County District RCMP has charged a man with attempted murder after a stabbing on Commercial St. in New Minas.

At approximately 7:20 a.m. yesterday morning, RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing on Commercial St. in New Minas. When officers arrived at the scene they found a 31-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds to the torso. Officers arrested a man who is known to the victim at the scene and transported him to the Kings District East Detachment in New Minas. The victim, who suffered serious injuries, was taken by ambulance to hospital in Kentville.

Donald John Hill, 32, of New Minas, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Attempted Murder;
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm;
  • Assault with a Weapon;
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

Hill was remanded in custody and will appear in Kentville Provincial Court on April 7, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Kings County District RCMP with the assistance of the Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, RCMP General Investigation Section and the RCMP Forensic Identification Services.
