Arrest warrant issued for suspect in Dartmouth shooting

Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of 24-year-old Julian Frederick Chittick of Halifax, who is wanted for attempted murder, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and a number of weapons-related offences.

At 4 p.m. on June 29, police responded to reports of shots being fired from a vehicle in Lakecrest Drive area of Dartmouth. The intended victim, a 16-year-old Halifax youth, is believed to have been in the vehicle but managed to jump out before the shots were fired. He was not struck by any of the bullets but was injured as he fled for safety.

Chittick may be armed and should be considered dangerous. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is cautioned not to approach him and is asked to call police investigators at 490-5020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
