RCMP release:
Meteghan RCMP arrests two men in relation to two separate assaults that occurred at an assembly in Saulnierville.
Yesterday afternoon, Meteghan RCMP, Digby RCMP, Yarmouth Town RCMP, Annapolis District RCMP, Kings District RCMP, Barrington RCMP and RCMP Traffic Services were present at an assembly on Saulniverville Wharf Rd., where a number of persons had gathered.
While present RCMP officers observed a man, who assaulted another, when he pushed him. The 34-year-old Digby County man was safely arrested at the scene.
A short time later a second assault took place when a man grabbed another man by the neck. The 39-year-old Hants County man was also safely arrested at the scene.
Both victims did not suffer injuries.
Investigators spoke with the victims who stated they did not want criminal charges to proceed.
The 34-year-old and 39-year-old men were later released and apologized to the victims.
Criminal charges are not anticipated at this time.
RCMP officers continue to be present in the Saulnierville, as our primary role is to promote public safety. The Nova Scotia RCMP respects that individuals have the freedoms of peaceful assembly and would like to highlight the importance of remaining peaceful. Crimes against people and property will not be tolerated and will be investigated.
