Reporting to the Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage Tony Ince, Arts Nova Scotia manages programs and funding for Nova Scotia’s artists and arts organizations.

“The board has accomplished a lot in just two years. I thank those who have agreed to continue on the board for another two years and welcome those who have joined,” said Mr. Ince. “I know their commitment in assisting and supporting the growth of Nova Scotia’s arts sector is solid and I look forward to continuing to work with the board in the future.”

Arts Nova Scotia distributed $3.2 million dollars in funding last year to professional artists and arts organizations in Nova Scotia. It partners on three key funding initiatives – the Artist Residency Program, Arts Equity Funding and ArtsVest. It oversees components of the status of artist legislation and manages the provincial art bank and co-hosts the annual art award gala in the fall.

“The continuity that existing board members bring, combined with the valuable expertise of these new members, will serve to further strengthen our board and our commitment to furthering the arts in Nova Scotia,” said Ms. Stevenson.
