Two women face charges following an incident that occurred last week in Dartmouth.
On May 24 at 3:30 a.m., officer responded to the Sobey’s store, located at 60 Tacoma Drive. Two women attempted to steal numerous items and were confronted by staff and security. There was a brief scuffle and one of the women pulled a sharp object from her pocket and slashed the security officer. The two women fled the area prior to police arrival but were identified with the help of witnesses and video surveillance. The security officer was treated at the scene by EHS. In the early evening of the same day, officers arrested the two suspects without incident at two separate Dartmouth addresses.
Forty-three-year-old Nancy Francine Chambers of Dartmouth was held in custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face the following charges:
– Assault with a weapon
– Assault causing bodily harm
– Uttering threats
– Theft under $5,000
– Possession of stolen goods under $5,000
Thirty-year-old Desiree Jane Chambers of Dartmouth was released from custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on June 11 to face the following charges:
– Uttering threats
– Theft under $5,000
– Breach of court orders
