Multiple charges in relation to a disturbance at lounge

Release:

On Saturday August 29, 2020, at approximately 10:40 p.m. New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a disturbance at a local lounge in New Glasgow, where a staff member was assaulted where removing the suspect from the lounge.

As officers arrived, the suspect, a 19-year-old adult male from Pictou County was arrested and transported back to New Glasgow Regional Police Station.

As a result of the disturbance and the arrest, the suspect was charged for, multiple offences. These included several charges in relation to assault on police where several officers were spit on by the suspect.

The suspect has been charged with the following:

  • Assault on Police Office
  • Threats
  • Resist arrest.
  • Breach of probation

The suspect was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Provincial Court.

New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate.
