Assault charge leads to breach of conditions and trafficking drugs charges

A man faces drug charges after an assault charge in Halifax last night and breach of conditions this morning.

At 9:40 p.m. on May 16, Halifax Regional Police attended a residence on Cork Street in relation to an assault call between two people who are known to each other. A man was arrested without incident and transported to the Prisoner Care Facility in Halifax for processing. He was charged with assault and released on an undertaking to stay away from the victim and the residence. The man was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on June 22.

At approximately 1 a.m. this morning, police were again called to the residence on Cork Street as the man had returned and he was in violation of his conditions.

After searching the man, he was found in possession of quantities of hydromorphone pills, marihuana and money, a cell phone, scale and other drug paraphernalia.

Thirty-year-old Noah Mielnick has been charged assault, breach of an undertaking, possession for the purpose of trafficking in hydromorphone and possession for the purpose of trafficking in marihuana. He appeared in Halifax Provincial Court today.
