Atlantic Fashion Week Opening Night Favorites

I love Atlantic Fashion Week, I think it’s a great time for everyone in the industry to get together and talk shop. I love seeing what the designers send down the runway, and I also love catching up with the folks from out of town.
This year Atlantic Fashion Week fell smack dab in the middle of a move, and renovations for me, so it was a little bonkers to say the least. I manged to pull myself together (paint in hair and all), and I made it out to both shows.

There’s something to be said about the creativity and ingenuity that goes into creating a collection. For me the bold are rewarded, and I love anything that pushes boundaries and makes me think. The biggest thing for me when attending events like these is when I see things I haven’t seen before. One my biggest pet peeves about attending fashion shows is when I see a repeat piece on the runway. In all honesty I lose interest immediately; I have an amazing memory for this kind of stuff, and so I instantly disengage with the collection. I understand that this a bit of a challenge for local designers, but let me tell you it’s worth it.
As well I like to see a little bit a consistency when it comes to the line; I feel like it’s equally as important for each piece to stand alone as well as fit together as whole with the entire collection. I strongly dislike the word flow, but I do think fluidity is very important when sending pieces down the runway. The following three collections really hit the mark for me, and I was definitely impressed.  The pieces were fun, clever, well made, and above all else interesting. Well done everyone.
