One of Atlantic Canada’s fastest growing technology companies is expanding its operations in Halifax to meet increasing demand for its products and services.

Headquartered in Saint John, New Brunswick, Innovatia Inc. is a Canadian multinational corporation that provides professional services and software.

Innovatia offers documentation, training and technical support solutions to clients in Europe, India, the United States and Canada.

“When it came time to choose a location to grow, we had to look past our own provincial borders,” said Roxanne Fairweather, co-CEO of Innovatia. “We looked for a location with the right talent to support the influx of work from national and international clients, and Nova Scotia came out on top.”

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) has signed a five-year payroll rebate agreement with Innovatia to encourage the company to grow in Nova Scotia and expand into new markets. Innovatia must create at least 15 full-time equivalent positions in the first year. The company can then earn a rebate on payroll for up to 100 new positions.

If Innovatia creates 100 new jobs over a five year period, the company would add more than $13.8 million in salaries to Nova Scotia’s economy, and employees would pay provincial income tax of about $1,405,000. As a result, the company can earn up to $959,400 over 5 years in payroll rebates through NSBI’s Strategic Investment Fund.

The jobs being created in Nova Scotia will involve providing advanced technical support for global clients.

“Innovatia is a great example of a company that sees the advantages of doing business in Nova Scotia,” said John Ludovice, managing director of investment attraction, NSBI. “The company is creating job opportunities that will help keep new graduates in the province.

“These new jobs are a great addition to our information communication technology sector.”

Founded in 1999, Innovatia has over 500 employees worldwide. In May 2013, Innovatia was recognized as the 7th fastest growing company in Atlantic Canada by Atlantic Business Magazine, based on revenue data spanning from 2009 to 2012. Its two CEOs were also recognized in Atlantic Business Magazine’s Top 50 CEOs list for 2013.
